About Us

The East Maitland Academy of Dance was founded in 1947 by Miss Daphne Parker who created an environment of excellence and high achievement. In 2008 Miss Parker passed away and János Szabó, Hungarian born dancer stepped in to fill the position.

János Szabó trained at the elite Hungarian State Ballet Academy and then joined the Hungarian National Ballet as both soloist and ensemble member. He has performed on all the major stages on the world, including Covent Garden, the Metropolitan and the Bolshoi Ballet.

Upon arrival in Australia he trained with the Royal Academy of Dance in the English method and obtained his Certificate of Ballet Teaching Studies. He brings a wealth of professional experience both as a performer and teacher to the school and is an inspiration to his students.
